My DV6000 series notebook was OK until I installed the driver for a Samsung 19 in. lcd and hit fn-f4 to toggle to the external display (everything attached to the HP dockstation). The external display looked great and the resolution 1200 x 1000 (approx.) and color profile were automatically set. However, the notebook screen was dead...only the backlight shows. Nothing will revive the notebook screen. The notebook screen is 1280 x 800. It's under warranty, but HP tech support doesn't seem to have an answer to... can an external monitor clobber the notebook display? I tried the same external monitor on a very old notebook that displays only 800 x 600 and everything worked fine except the image quality was reduced. Assuming the dv6000 will be repaired, I am now very hesitant to attach any external monitor, which I really need to do. Frustrated. Any ideas? Anyone have an external monitor in use with a higher resolution than the notebook? Does Fn-F4 toggle between them?
    Thanks!
