    Can one replace a CPU in the dv7's? If yes, does it need upgrading in cooling?

    e.g. in those new ones with i7-2630qm. Will anyone be able to upgrade them to that slot and if yes, does it need any special cooling-upgrading treatment?

    To what? an i7-2730M you mean? If so, than it should work and the current heatsink should work with.

    The 2630QM, 2720QM, and 2820QM should all work. A 2920XM, however, would be too much.
