I'm getting a dv6700t soon and I'm planning on using it as a desktop replacement, so I have all the hardware I need (dock, keyboard, monitors, etc.). But I've never used a docked laptop, so has anybody tried using the dv6700t with the lid closed?
Also, I'd like to know, how do people using an external monitor cope. Usually closing the lid would put the laptop to sleep or hibernation, so I guess/hope there's a way to "tell" it to keep running. But that would cause a problem of its own, so is there a way to "tell" the laptop to keep running ONLY if the dock is plugged in, and go to sleep/hibernation, if it's not plugged?
Thanks

You can set it all through the NVIDIA control panel on how you want the external monitor to work. You can set it as to show on both screen or only to show on the external monitor if you close the lid.
Theres also the FN+monitor button and mini remote button to press and it switches the screen around in different settings
EDIT:
You can disable the sleep mode if you close the lid through the power settings on vista. I put mine on Do Nothing when lid is closed. -
Go to control panel > Power Options. Then on the right side, third from top you should see "Choose what closing the lid does" click on that.
You should then see 2 columns, One for battery and one for plugged in. you should see in the last option "When I close the lid" set it to "Do Nothing", when it's on AC Power.
You should be all set, now when you close the lid nothing will happen. (Only when your plugged in, but if your on battery it will sleep, unless you set both settings to do nothing,)
Let me know if this helped.

Thanks!! You both were very helpful.
What is Rep.? -

The rep icon is below the persons username, the middle one, (looks like a scale).
All the best and I hope the advice worked. -
