It's a low configuration of the HP Elitebook 2530p:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400, 1860 MHz, 6MB Cache
    Chipset: Intel
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
Gfx memory: Up to 384MB (Usage of the comp. main memory)
    Memory: 2GB, (DDR 2 SDRAM 800 MHz)
    Harddrive: 120GB SATA, 5400rpm
    CD/DVD: DVD+/-RW (Dual Layer)
    Network: Integrert Intel Gigabit Ethernet
    Broadcom 802.11b/g Broadcom Bluetooth 2.0+
    Screen: 12.1" WXGA (1280 x 800)

(by multitasking I mean having Firefox open with multiple tabs, listening to music and working in Excel/Word/SPSS at the same time. Perhaps even surfing the web whilst running a movie)

I would think so. With the exception of SPSS and running a movie at the same time, many netbooks and just about any dual-core lappie shoudl be able to handle things well.

Bump up your ram to a full 4 Gb. The additional cost is minimal compated to everything else you have.
