Monday I was trying to decide between a few options (they had Vista Ultimate 64bit for only a $60 upgrade) and saw the $500 off coupon on the front page here. Went to buy it last night and the $500 off was no longer vaild. OK, rethink (looking at a Dell 1720 now which is 30% off until tomorrow). This morning I went back to look at the configurations I saved and thay are now "No longer available". No problem, I'll do it again. However, now you can't even customize a dv9700t at all - "t" or "z" versions.
Is this a normal thing at HP - did they run out of parts? Or does this have something to do with new CPUs coming this spring? Should I just wait or just buy a Dell? I need something soon!

Actually none of the models are configurable now. It might be their website, so try again later.
-
Also, make sure that you don't have any student or business discounts active when you are inserting the coupon code. If you have those running, then the coupon code will never work.
-
It is working now - and I guess they apparently were updating the Vista offerings to SP1 - they all say that now.
-
They Added SP1 and a bigger 320GB hardrive.
I Just Called to see if i could edit my order for a bigger drive but i couldnt.
I told her i Used the $500 Coupon she said those werent supposed to even go out. It was a big mess there the other day Some Vendor let them out. -
HP usually puts up a message saying they are updating the store, I guess they forgot to put it up when putting up new stuff. I see that they added up the Windows Vista With Service Pack 1. I wonder if my notebook will come with it since I ordered it a week ago.
HP also upgraded their hard drive options. You can now go up to 320GB in the dv2700, dv6700, tx2000 and 640GB in the dv9700 and HDX. Only 5400RPM though =/
I wish they could go up to 7200RPM. -
i have a question...will HP be ever configurable in canada? because all the HPs they sell up here are crap

I found it interesting when configuring the dv2700t that the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) is replaced by Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.10 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) but price remains the same.
Is the T8100 better than the T7500? -
Dell 1720 gives a geforce 8600GT 256mb with DDR2 while HP gives the best of a 8600GS...dell beats hp hands down....the only thing good about HP is the nice gloss screen that they have.. -
Thank you for pointing this out - this has driven me mad all day! It worked fine yesterday, today it's a mess. I have spoken with salespeople, tech support and finally emailed the webmaster about this issue. They can see the pages fine and want us to hurry and order via the phone-NOT! I need to see each spec and choose appropriately. Hope they get it together- told them I am not buying anyhting until they do!

Good luck. -

lol nice, the 1720 > 9700t its faster at everything, all i prefer about the HP's is their nice screens... other than that, they are known for thier overheating and laggy game performance..
Can't Customize a dv9700t on HP's site???
