I recently purchased a HP dv2550. I'm very pleased with it. However, when I try to use the touchpad the pointer has a mind of its own. I can't control it, even when tweaking the control panel, though I may be tweaking the settings incorrectly.

    Suggestions, please!

OOOOOPs. Very, very sorry for the triple post. Having problem with my net connection and it appeared the others didn't take. Hopefully a mod will remove the others since I can't delete on my own.

Not sure what you mean by "Can't control it"... you mean the pointer doesn't move at all or move really slowly or inaccurately to the direction you are touching?

Try change the Touch Sensitivity and do the PalmCheck and see how much pressure you need..

Go to Control Panel - Mouse - Device Settings - (Make sure you have selected the Synaptics TouchPad) - Settings - click on "+" to expand Sensitivity...
From there you can adjust the Touch Pressure and Touch Sensitivity.

If still not working right, uninstall the TouchPad driver, reinstall it - download the latest version from HP Support driver site.

I'd just skip to uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, myself. You'll know if it's a problem with your driver then.
