I'm trying to upgrade the RAM in my DV6000z notebook. I never upgraded memory in a notebook before so I'm sort of clueless. I did a scan with that Crucial software, but I couldn't come up with any results other than telling me how much memory I currently have.
I've been reading the HP site and it says to find the parts number on the bottom sticker of the notebook but I don't see any similar numbers on NewEgg.com. This is driving me mad. How exactly do I know what memory I can buy?

Any 200pin DDR2 667(PC2 5300/5400) SODIMM modules should do fine with your system. The best way if you didnt know anything about memory is to use a program like PC Wizard or CPU-Z or Everest which can identify the type/brand/amount/number of memory slots in your notebook. You can then look up similar modules online.

You need PC5300 DDR2 memory.

kingston website usually has a little wizard to determine what memory you need.
