    Hi all!

I have an HP Pavillion DV6605us ( DV6500 ) laptop that was purchased new, and has been working well for years.

Recently when I started it, the time and date were wrong, so assuming the CMOS battery had finally died, I looked in the service manual, found the info for the CMOS battery, and ordered a new one.

The battery I bought is shrink wrapped and has a short red and black wire with a white plug at the end.

When the new battery arrived, I removed the memory cover, as shown in the manual, and there is no CMOS battery!

I have looked everywhere, removed part of the case, searched, shook, and no CMOS battery!

There was no damage to the laptop (it wasn't dropped) there is no noise like a loose battery, there is no battery socket to be found.

    It could not have disappeared!!

Can anyone tell me where the CMOS battery should be, or any ideas where mine went to?

At least the picture name say dv6500 mainboard.

Coin battery, top right corner on that picture. You should see the socket if you remove the wlan cover but to actually replace it... you have to take out the whole motherboard (and clean the fan too). It'll take me about an hour to do (did it today actually) so around two for a first timer ;)

I think the battery is regular LR2032 that you'll find in any grocery store or bigger.

Edit: I checked the dv6000 motherboard I replaced yesterday and it does have similar bios battery as you have bought. I snapped a pic of it myself:

It is on the same spot as the regular battery, so it will be just as difficult to replace :)
