I've just bought a dv3029TX for my father. As usual with HP, it came with loads of bloatware so my first impulse was to format it. I've already have a lot of experience with HP so I burned the SWSETUP files onto a DVD and also downloaded them from the internet. I did not burned the Recovery Disks as I previously found I did not used them at all so it was pointless to me. Now after formatting it into Vista, I find I cannot get the fingerprint reader to work. I also cannot get Quick Touch to work properly as the on screen volume indication is now gone.

To top it off, I can't activate Windows Vista Home Premium on the notebook itself with the serial number at the bottom of the notebook. I initially had the problem when I booted from DVD and it did not accept my serial number so I just ticked the put in serial number later check box. I've already been to the HP service centre and they say I was using a pirated DVD of Vista, which is true, as this is the first Vista system I have. But my knowledge tells me that it should work with pirated DVD's as it is the same as the original.

    Can anyone help me?
