Hello everyone, recently I downloaded Avast Free Anti-Virus for my hp laptop, and I ran a full system scan and when it was done it told me that I had 3 trojan viruses, so I pressed delete when I probably should have repaired it, but now fit has disabled the finger print scanner so now I can not get into my computer because I have forgotten my password. Anyoe know how I can get this stuff back up and going or get into my computer? Thanks

If your computer has Vista or Win7, boot your computer with an install disc and select "repair computer". You will find there an option to use system restore.

Select a restore point when your computer worked. Log in, change the password into something you remember and then clean system again.

I have worked on a number of PC's for my friends and family where something similiar has occurred. Typically they would tell me that they just changed their password and suddenly couldn't recall what it was they had changed it to. The nice thing being that all of these PC's were store-bought systems that had OEM OS installations on them. And with that, the Administrator's account is simply disabled. The password had never been set during setup. I could always get in by enabling this account through command line during startup and simply remove the password from their main account. Might not be the way it is supposed to be done or their may be an easier way. But it's always worked for me.

Opening a command prompt at startup:

You can erase your Windows password and set a new one. It's a bit tricky, but you can download this software, burn to disc or USB drive, and boot from it.

Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor

Once you boot from it, the instructions are pretty much self following. Erase your account password, and you will login next time without any trouble. Oh, and better use MS Security Essentials. It is way better than Avast.

This is precisely why I don't care for anything that "helps" me by allowing me not to enter my password.
