After I recieved my dv1000 I reformatted and installed xp. Updated XP, installed all the drivers (yada yada). I tried to burn a CD when I noticed that I haven't installed a driver for my burner ( not the lightscribe). I checked on HP's site and could not find them. Link to my dv1000 drivers:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=469175&os=228

The closest thing I could find would be the driver named "DVD/CDRW Drive (GCC-4243N) Firmware Update" under Firmware update (which didnt work). Any advice?

To my knowledge, you do not need to install any specific driver for the Driver, other than whatever software you want to use for writing. XP has built in drivers.

What is the error you are getting?

I had the same experience with my HP Pavilion zx5078cl. It came with a 2.4x DVD+RW burner. This part is begging to be replaced with something a little quicker.

Here's what I found: if you are using Roxio for burning and AVG for anti-virus, 1) uninstall AVG, 2) open Roxio to let the application find your burner, then 3) reinstall AVG. For some reason AVG seems to interfere with Roxio's ability to find your burner when the application is first launched.
