    I'm putting a new motherboard into a DV5.

I'm following the steps in the manual here:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01550108.pdf

I'm trying to remove the optical drive as per the instructions on page 55. I've removed the screw and I have the drive open. When I pull on the drive drawer nothing moves. I am afraid if I pull harder I'll break it. Any ideas ?

    Thanks !

It came out easily once I removed the upper cover. It was jammed in between the upper and lower cover.

Not according to the service manual. Its just supposed to slide out and would if the upper cover was loose enough. If I had to do it again, I'd just loosen a couple of the upper cover screws.

I know. When I took my DV5 apart to install the TV tuner cable, the DVD ROM was a little misaligned. Did the same thing you did.
