I have Vista 32 bit and I wanted to update my driver which was: "7.15.11.7586" to the new version here:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista/178.13

    So I followed this guide:

    http://www.overclock.net/faqs/12466-info-nvidia-driver-cleaning-guide.html

I did stage 1 and uninstalled the Video Adapter driver then rebooted.

Then I installed and ran nVidia Nasty File Remover and it found these files which I moved to the recycle bin:

I rebooted into SafeMode and it installed 'Standard VGA driver' automatically.

When I went to install the driver, it came up with this error:

This also happened with the previous driver:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista/177.98

    What should I do?

The HP site is saying the first driver is the recommended one, but I don't know how often they update:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=3758223

I made a restore point before doing all this, if I rollback, will I get my working driver back or should I just reinstall the one from the HP site?

Replace the inf file in the installation folder with a modded inf from the website.

Yes, as hasham11 said, you will need a modified INF from LaptopVideo2Go.

For 178.13, go back to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista/178.13. There will be a link to a modified INF for this driver. Download it and replace the original INF, which is located where you extracted all of the setup files. Then run setup again, and it should work.
