This week (7/11) I finally received my dv9500. I'm running it as a replacement desktop w/ the lid closed to a Samsung 205BW LCD. I'm using the HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI video adapter and the picture is amazing!
However, the problem is once it goes to sleep I can't wake it up using the mouse or keyboard! I have to open the lid which is annoying. I'm not too familiar with Vista is there some setting somewhere that I'm missing?
Anyone have any solutions? I couldn't find any threads w/ this problem when I did a search.
Thanks in advance!

Go into the device manager and under each device (Kb, Mouse) right click and go to properties. On the power management tab there is box to "Allow device to bring computer out of standby". Check the box you should be good to go. One other thing, your laptop is still producing heat as it's being used and it may be a good idea to at least leave the laptop lid open a little bit to allow a little air to breathe in their. I have seen lcd's damaged after extended use in your configuration.

Wingsbr thanks for the quick response! The allow this device to wake the computer is checked off under kb. However the HID-compliant mouse which is a IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 USB there is no power management tab? I'm running the mouse with a PS/2 adapter to USB for both kb and mouse. I wonder if I ran the mouse straight to USB if that would make a difference?
AFA, the heat thing goes. I'm running my laptop on top of Ergotron laptop arm. The laptop has plenty of air under neat because it does not sit on my desk and the tray absorbs a lot of the heat too. However, I'll keep my eye on the heat while the lid is closed. Thanks for the tip!
I'll try the USB config on the mouse. Could there be another setting in Vista?
Here is a link to the arm:

AFAIK that is the only way to change it. I am back on xp from vista but you may try power management in the control panel. I don't remember if there is another option there but it could be. I remember when I was on Vista, like you say, that there were HID and mouse and kb, etc. I know this sounds silly but what I did was go thru each one and if it had the option to change the power management, I selected it, because of the many options and I couldn't figure out which one it was. It should correct the issue if you run the mouse direct USB and change the setting for that one as well.
Can't wake up my dv9500
