Has anyone successfully used a Canadian Credit card on the us hp site? I have a US address via mail forwarding... and I plan on using this to get an envy, but want to make sure my credit card will work...
-
-
-
this should work, i do this for online purchases all the time -
use paypal, works for canadian CC's
-
Paypal doesn't allow to change country so same problem as having a credit card with billing address outside US?
-
you would have to register a new paypal account with the US billing address
-
It's not the credit card, it's that the billing address and shipping address generally must match.
-
nah, it can be all 3
shipping > billing > bank location
any 1 of those can muck things up though
one time i was ordering from a store; they wouldnt accept my CC because it was from a canadian bank, despite the US billing address; but would accept it if i paid with the same cc on paypal
americans are silly -
-
Is it possible to pay with a dutch paypal account while the shipping adress is in the US?
-
you could try, but my money is on them cancelling the order when they realize the account is not registered in the US
you would be better off ordering from amazon/ cdw; that's what I'm doing, I don't need HP's BS -
alright ic... so what about adding the us adress to my paypal account? That will do the trick right?
-
give it a shot, but it's not my fault if they cancel the order and hold on to your money for a few weeks and give you the run around due to your account not being US based.
if it goes through, more power to ya. -
I ordered off HP's website with a Canadian credit card on paypal fine with a US shipping address
-
So, what`s the verdict? sign up for a Paypal account with a US address and link it to a Canadian credit card?
-
I've mailed the customer service of HP. They said that they only accept US billing adress even if you use paypal. So the only option for me is to wait till the Envy14 is released in stores
-
-
otherwise it will be registered as a canadian paypal account, and they will likely flag it / prevent you from sending in the first place
if it doesnt stop ya, go for it...i'd try to avoid the hurdles at all costs though -
-
that's correct
-
Alright, order went through.
Canadian bank's Visa, but US billing address and shipping address. No problemo. -
So is your order verified? Or in some process. Also can I ask what bank you use (I will try with my TD Visa). -
no, didn't get the student discount...
TD Visa as well
Of course, all of this hinges on having a place across the border to change your billing address to / pick the laptop up at... -
-
yeah, that's who i use. they've gotten super popular over the last few years. when i started using them it was dead when i'd get in that warehouse....now i go there and there's always customers who are also picking up to bring accross the border; even my dentist uses them now
-
Ok, I ordered mine
TD Visa, changed primary billing info to US address, shipping to CBI. So far so good! Build date of July 15. -
Oh no, got an "order canceled e-mail". I noticed I got a call from HP's call center (281-257-7820), but my cell dropped the call. Shortly after that I got a cancellation email.
-
my order is now in production, i wonder what set off a flag at HP for yours....did you tell visa to make it the permanent address and not just a "temporary address"? -
-
-
Is your order still good? Mine got cancelled, so I'll call the bank to verify my billing stuff. Soooo close.
-
Yeah, mine's in production now. Got confirmation emails and the whole shebang.
-
-
No, everything's fine.
-
Update: seems as though HP was doing a "manual review" of the order since it couldn't process automatically (probably due to me putting my phone number in the "address 2" line. That's why they called me. So everything's back on track again
-
good news
the race is on to CBI for us! -
this has got me pretty excited...ive been looking for a way to get the envy. my only question is will the warranty still be valid, seeing as im in canada?i just dont want to go through all this effort of getting the laptop to not have a warranty lol.
-
Sorry, so you changed your credit card's billing address? What did you guys change it to? I should say did you use CBI's address?
I really want to purchase this laptop but I hate that I have to jump through hoops to do so. I'm still hoping HP Canada will at least offer another config option for the Envy 14, with a better CPU and the high res screen. -
I've ordered a bunch of stuff from the US Amazon.com using my Canadian CC and shipped to a US location for pick up.
I actually have 2 addresses registered with my BMO Mastercard. My main Canadian home address and shipping US address.
Call your CC company and ask for a secondary shipping address to be added. -
Update: My order that was supposedly back on track after calling HP was never back on track. HP puts a hold on your card that lasts about a week.
I was able to order over the phone, got the same phone call from HP, which I missed again. So my order got cancelled. Again. Another hold on my card.
Fast forward to a week later, where my first hold has been released. I changed my billing address with my credit card, and tried again. This time, it said my billing address didn't match what my bank had on file, and the order didn't go through. Probably because I used the same card, and didn't match what I used on HP previiously (?). The kicker: I called VISA and the authorization DID go through. So now I have another hold on my card lol. Nevertheless, I will try again with another card. I have enough of a credit limit that a 1 week hold doesn't bother me. -
Sounds like what happened to me in the past. VISA are a bunch of retards who have no clue what they are doing. They say they change it but they don't, or they put it as a secondary address or some other BS and it screws everything up. Reading your post brings back nightmares of when I originally tried to change my address.
I guess it's been in use @ the new address for so long now that it's finally settled and visa has updated all of their files.
It's hilarious, you call, they say they do it, then you call back and get another rep and ask them to confirm it and they have no record of the address change. ing incompetent s!
btw my Envy is in transit due Friday -
Well, the other card didn't go through either. The address change DID go through, I called back and changed them back to what they were. Although Visa are a bunch of idiots, no arguing there.
I think HP just put a flag on my whole account. In contact with my amerifriend right now, I give up trying to do it alone. -
I guarantee you it's not HP, it's Visa. Not all of their files are up to date yet.
-
Has anyone tried this with MasterCard? Depending on how the reviews turn out I may try changing the address on my MC and buying it through the US site.
-
How will you be ordering to Canada? I really want to purchase the the envy also, but don't know how to get it here. The Canadian version is not configurable and has a low-res screen. Also, is the Bing Cashback 30% still working? How do i access it?
-
bing doesnt work in canada
-
FYI the people at HP told me that they only accept US Credit Cards and the card must be issued by a US bank.
I have a US billing address on my CC, but my bank isn't US.. so I don't think a Canadian CC would work. -
Well I have a TD Visa and it worked, so nuts to that
-
By the way, what does TD stand for?
Canadian Credit Cards on the US HP Site...
