I was in the process of reformating my computer earlier when the power cut off.. and the notebook shutdown at 7% while formating. I powered the notebook back up to try to reformat it again from the begining.. but everytime i boot from my xp cd to setup windows i would get this message:
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer."
So how do i go about this? I really need to reformat this notebook.

the notebook runs normal. Only when i try to reformat does it run into issues.

You are missing the SATA drivers necessary to install XP on a system which uses the Intel SATA chipsets. What notebook model is this? If it is the dv2/6/9 500t check the stickies. Older dv 2/6/900t series also need the SATA drivers. Search the HP section of the forum for installation guides.

thanks for the reply, i have a dv2000t... so youre saying that i'm missing "SATA drivers"? I'll do some research.. but do they have it on hp's site?

1. Disable native SATA support in the BIOS install XP and then try installing the drivers and enable SATA in the BIOS.
2. Slipstream SATA drivers on to the XP disc and install normally.
3. Use an external floppy drive and load the SATA drivers during XP installation.
Here are a couple of threads which might help...
