Hey guys, I've had this HP dv6t 6100 for about 4 months and haven't used it for gaming until now as I'm home on winter break and usually game on my desktop that is back at school. I have all the most recent drivers from HPs site and i still get absolutely terrible gaming performance...on starcraft 2 i get about 30fps spikes but it will drop to as little as 2-3 fps for 10-20 seconds as a time for no reason (this is on the lowest graphics settings). Battlefield 3 is completely unplayable, and diablo 3 beta is completely unplayable as i get 10-12fps max...I have the 6770m which should easily be able to handle any of these games on lowest settings with around 50fps. PLEASE HELP!!!! I spent hours looking through other threads and couldn't find anything with this exact problem but i apologize if this is already addressed. As i said i have the most recent drivers from HPs site and i even tried downloading the AMD drivers for the card but then the computer went insane because of the switchable graphics not liking those drivers...Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you sure it's using the dGPU?

Get HWMonitor and see if it's running hot and throttling.

Enable Powerplay or overclock it with Sapphire Trixx/MSI Afterburner.

@Sxooter: its not running hot, i have afterburner on usually and it runs around 60C when gaming

@xAcid9: powerplay has always been enabled and my afterburner sliders are at 725MHz Core Clock (which is as far as it will go) and 800MHz Memory Clock (also as far as the slider will go)

Any other ideas? I recently installed the latest AMD drivers after i installed the latest HP drivers and it did improve it a little but its still pretty awful...

by the way i have noticed that when i game, the GPU usage on MSI Afterburner will drop to 0% periodically and thats when my gaming FPS will drop to literally 2-3fps...don't know if thats an issue that has been addressed or not elsewhere

Turn off the sound (In the game itself) and monitor thr CPU usage while you play.
