Hope someone here can help me.I need to find the exact model number like dv6xxxxXX (like dv 6234TX)

    I have a hp DV6000 (1.73 Core Duo T2250,2 GB Ram, 120 HD, Geforce Go 7400)

Now I bought this laptop used. there is only a charger and the laptop...

The back of this laptop does not have the Service Tag...it has been taken off...

Then i went to the bios but under product model and number it is blank....
(so my first question is WHY isnt the bios detecting the product model number and serial number in the FIRST PLACE??? what could be the reason???does or did any1 have the same problem??)

I also used the auto detection method on hp site but it is unable to identify ..

Then I went to system information on winxp under system model is shows "30BC___" (this is the quanta 30BC motherboard installed on hp , dell etc laptops which i found out by googling)
..also checked in direct x... system model : 30BC___

    i used cpu-z and it also failed : http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cpuya3.jpg

i used some other softwares too like pc wizard : http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=45558728db3.jpg

    HWinfo32: http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hp1wn3.jpg

Where did you get this system from?

Does it come with the Microsoft COA sticker in the bottom?

It sounds like an old prototype model. Its not supposed to be sold in the market.

Hi. Ive heard alot about the problems with dv6000 series. Im dealing with the same problem on my dv6670ec. Im running XP after downgrade from Vista. Apart from these blanks in BIOS I experience problems with Network Controller and Firewire which are accompanied by exclamation mark in device manager. I tried to get back to Vista, but unfortunately my recovery disks are not able to recognize my laptop as it lost all id data stored in BIOS (for unknown reason, because I doubt that it could be caused by downgrading to XP).By downgrading my warranty is...you know, so Id be glad to solve it myself instead of utilizing my credit card... allegedly BIOS tatooing could help but the utility is password protected. My goal is to put the information about my laptop back into BIOS. That hp utility is useless so have to think about doing it other way. Bye
