For me the Hewlett Packard HDX 18t seems like the perfect laptop, except for it's 9600 GT. I've never heard of anybody switching out a graphics card in an HP so I was wondering if any of you knew / thought it was possible? Or if you thought that the 9600 GT was not a bad card.
I have an ATI 2600 HD with 512MB DDR3, so I didn't think that there would be a big jump in graphics going to the 9600 GT with 512MB... Would I be able to clock it up to make it run better? How easy is it to clock up a GPU?
Thank You All

The 9600 is 500/1250/400 stock, I've steadily OC'd to 650/1600/575 and can probably go higher. This is a large performance gain compared to most cards OC ability, but that doesn't make it a particularly powerful card, and I'd think not that much more powerful than a 2600 with DDR3. It would help to know its 3dmark06 score, mine is 5400+.

HPs have the GPU soldered to the motherboard. So, the GPU cannot be upgraded.

hey, i have a hdx 16t also, could you explain to me how you oc'd it? i tried rivatuner and the new settings dont work while running a game they only work when im on the home screen. i have the stock drivers for the gpu.

Yeah you have to replace the entire motherboard and moreover HP motherboards don't ship for the HDX with any card better than the 9600M GT DDR2. So you really don't have any option out there.

Correct. You can not replace/upgrade the GPU as its soldered to the motherboard.
