Hi,
I know i could call circuit city and ask this but its 1:30 am in the morning.. and well i just wanted to try my luck here first...
Ok so i bought a HP DV6226 From circuit city with the service and accidental plan for 399. Well my HP 6226 Went out, screen black nothing! So i called HP, long story short they have me send it in for repair free covered under warrenty. I had to wait 4months to get any workd why it was taking so lond, they kept pushing back the date, than finally i get a call form a case manager saying that they messed up, the repair warehouse it went to got shut down and mine was lost, however he wanted to make it up to me and upgraded me too my laptop now(check signature).
now the model i have now or laptop is different than the plan io bought from circuit city, if something were to go wrong..would they cover it? can i get it switched?
Thanks in advance to all the comments and answers! thank you!

Nope, you don't. Once HP gave you a new laptop, the CC plan is gone because it only covers the original laptop.
-
So is there anyway i can get my money back off that plan? ha ha
-
Highly doubtful you will get your money back. I'm not familiar with the plan, but why didn't you go through CC to get the replacement? Isn't that what those plans are for?
-
Yeah, I agree with Orev...Doubtful since you didn't goto CC in the beginning. Let us know what happens when you talk to them though....
-
I've gotten plans from Best Buy and you can usually get a pro-rated refund. That is, they'll give you money back minus however long you've owned the laptop. Explain the situation - I'm sure given the circumstances that they'll either allow you to carry it over to the new laptop or get a partial refund on the service plan. Always worth a try.
-
By the way, you'll want to have the original paperwork for the service plan when you physically go to CC to explain the situation - otherwise, it will be much more difficult.
And although the Service Plan is "attached" to that laptop, it's usually treated as a separate entity, which is why you can usually get the partial refund. -
Yea i know i messed up. I should have gone with the CC plan before HP, because again thats what i paid for.... but what is done is done. I will call them right now, will get back to you guys here in about 30mins....
-
Ok, so i am on the phone right now with CC, looks like they can switch the plan to the new laptop, because the manufactor replaced the original laptop. So i am on hold she is putting in all the information right now, model,s/n..etc...
Will be cack after call and give the full results and details! -
Cool. I'm surprised, as usually these plans are bottom-feeding money grabs, but that's great that they will switch it!
-
Ok... here it its....
Circuit city is going fix the problem.
Spoke to a very nice representive and she understood my situation, she took all my information about laptop, and said there was no problem, because the manufacter had replaced the laptop they would switch the protection to the new laptop. She said what they were going to do, is update my account showing that i bought a dv9500 instead of a 2214 from cc. should take 7-10 days to update!
She gave me here dept number, ext and name for refrence if i had any issues in the future!
I know in my 1st post i said 6226 but it was a 2214, sorry its been awhile since i remember that one ha ha.
So thats what happened, i guess it worked great, just going to call back next week to see if it updated correctly. -
I bought the laptop in my sig on Jan. 07 with an additional 120$ warranty. When I got home and my brother saw the warranty plan he got really mad that I got fooled by that Office Depot guy to buy it. Next Sunday we went to Office Depot and got my money back without a hassle. For that 120$ I upgraded my RAM and still have some left.

Yes - Once, I paid $40 at Best Buy for a plan on my cell phone. I had a problem and brought it to them and they told me to go through the warranty. I was like, "So what the heck did I pay $40 for?". They said the plan only covered one year after the manufacturer warranty. I thought I was paying for the convenience of instant replacement at Best Buy should anything go wrong, or at least, that's what I was told when I got the plan.
That just wasn't cool to me. I got my money back - last time I ever got the replacement plan - total waste most of the time and outrageously priced. -
Ha ha.. yea i paid 399.99
-
Ouch! Yeah - you should have just gotten a refund.
-
If I were you I'd wait a month and then call up your Circuit City Warranty Repair Dept and just pretend something is wrong to make sure that they changed the warranty over.
-
399 is waaaay to much. Heck, I find 120$ too much.
-
For how long are you protected under the CC plan?
-
I'd never pay for a warranty that is more than 20 - 25% of the product cost or replacement cost.

If you want to do something more creative than dropping it, by all means entertain yourself.
-
April 2011? That is awfully long time from now!
-
So If this Website is up in 2011, which i think it will be, i will make a video for everyone on here entertain ya'll. -
Post the video AFTER you have your laptop replaced, ok?
-
lol...ok will do! thanks for the advice!
-
Hey that really is a great idea! lol

Right! That'll show them to sell overpriced protection plans! I hate them anyway.
Just remember to make it look like an accident.
Like maybe trip it while it's going down the stairs or cut it's brake lines ...
I'm starting to feel bad for the laptop. -
My suggestion is pull onto a highway with the laptop in a case on your roof!!
-
yea.. but this will be like putting an old man out of there misery!
