My compaq v3000t arrived, and it is very pretty except for a small hiccup. Bloatware and recovery and other things combined have taken up 18GB of my hard drive.

I did order for the HP recovery disk. I have a CD burner, but not a DVD burner. My question is this -- how do I go about safely re-installing a no bloat version of XP Home? I dont have any of my data on this m/c yet, so no need for any special backup.

If this has been discussed before, my apologies. Please let me know where I can find the related article!

    Thanks

Someone help me here -- what will I lose if I go ahead and re-install Windows from the CD HP gave me, and **** the stuff that came prepackaged?

My university provides me most of the software I need, so should I just go ahead and re-install windows?

Follow the dv2000t re-installation guide(see sticky). The V3000t and the dv2000t are basically the same hardware wise.
