Anybody tried it yet? I ordered mine with XP home and am going to a XP pro install. Read quite a few posts about problems with clean install on dv1000 and dv8000; so I am assuming I will run into same issues.

I have a XP pro upgrade disc. If i ordered this laptop with home on it, it should go just like any other upgrade i've done, correct? I've never owned a laptop, but on my desktop it was easy.. no drivers to deal with, just a simple upgrade.

It shouldn't be so hard as it appears from the posts here during the last two-three weeks. Disable SATA in the BIOS (there should be an option) and proceed with the installation. After that install SATA drivers, enable it in BIOS and the laptop should be OK.

The catch is that winxp disc aint got sata drivers capable of finding that dv2000t disc. You gotta slipstream intels drivers to the winxp installation cd, and be careful not to uninstall/delete teh quickplay partition. believe me, without qp installed, pressing the buttons with teh laptop off means serious trouble.

You don't have to slipstream anything, just get a 20 dollar external floppy drive, and that's it.

You make things way too difficult for yourself.
