Hello Folks. I am familiar with the "Clean Vista install WITH NO ACTIVATION " thread here in the HP/Compaq forums. Great thread with a lot of helpful info. Just wondering if there are any threads on how to do a clean install with HP recovery disc containing Windows XP Pro. I have my HP Windows XP Pro recovery disc which obviously has some unnecessary bloatware. Is there a way to just extra the "pure" XP Pro installation software? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Im guessing its the same way as orev's guide, you just need go get hold of a XP Pro install disc and you can use the same licence you have now

Ok, here is my situation. I have the original HP Recovery Disc with Windows XP Pro/SP2 that was included with my notebook. My goal is to somehow extract XP Pro/SP2 from this recovery disc to perform a clean install. I do have the XP Pro license/COA Sticker under my hp notebook. It would be nice to just do a clean install from the get go without the othe junk HP installs with this disc. Thanks again for the help.

There is another way. From what I can remember you can make a OEM XP disc using the i386 folder located in the root C:\ of the main partition of the stock HP installation. You should be able to create XP disc using that and do a clean install. There is a guide in the forum and should be available on the web as well.

Google 'nLite' and you shall find your answer!

I will probably give nLite a try and see how it goes. I'm kinda of curiouse to see how it extracts XP Pro from my HP System Recovery Disc. Does any one have any good walk thru links for HP notebooks? Thanks again for the help.
