Both dv1000t and dv2000t use Intel 945GM Express chipset. I ordered dv2000t and will do a clean XP Pro install on it. I read quite a few posts online how people struggled with doing the same thing for dv1000t due to some issues with disk drive not being recognized on install. So I am assuming I will hit same issues for dv2000t since the chipset is same as dv1000t. I think this info. will be useful to everybody else planning to buy a dv2000t and wanting to do a clean install. Normally this information is available on HP site for each model but since dv2000t is new it is not up there.

    1) To find which chipset your notebook is running visit this link:
    Chipset identification utility
    2) 945 GM chipset downloads
    3) SATA AHCI contoller driver for disk drives on dv1000t and dv2000t . It is the first driver. Description of driver is somewhat confusing but if you read the "Read Me" it lists Intel 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller as one of the supported contollers. I am assuming same is being used in dv2000t. "Read me" also lists how to create a floppy so that the driver for the above controller can be installed during OS install.

    Hope this helps

I'm gonna try to get the .inf files from the .exe that intel provides for their SATA controller. Then integrate them using nlite. Hope it works. I don't have a usb floppy.

I would highly recommend getting a USB floppy...they come in handy from time to time.
