For some reason, sometimes my fan makes this high pitched sound and I have to bang my laptop on the bottom to get it to go away, it's on and off though. Also, my laptop has been running pretty hot lately. The other day I noticed that the vent on the back had a lot of dust on it, so I can only imagine how much dust there is on the inside.

Is there anyway to take apart the laptop and clean the fans.
Also, anyone have any idea why my fan all of a sudden started making these noises, is it off it's bearings or something?

Thanks for all the help guys.

You could first try using a vacuum cleaner to suck out the accumulated dust. Much easier than taking it all apart.

You could also try using compressed air to clean the heat spreader and fan itself. But when using compressed air you have to block the fan from spinning or you'll damage the bearings.

But if the fan is already making sound, the best way is to replace it (if the loosend screws aren't the culprit)
