Hey Guys
I've got a HP HDX (the old 20" one), had it about a year now. The fans seem to be louder than when I first got it, so I was wondering if its time for a clean. I cant visually see any build up of dust in the fans or vents from the outside, but its probably a different story inside.
Has anyone cleaned out their HDX's? Is it hard to do? I've read the manual and it looks like there is quite a bit of disassembly to get to the fans. Anyone know of an easier way to clean the fans? I heard that blowing compressed air through the vents can work, but not sure about this. I dont want to just blow the dust somewhere else inside the laptop.
I did some tests on my core temps. CPU (both cores, Intel 2.2GHz Core2Duo) seems to be around 50-52C when its idle. GPU is 40C idle, and goes up to around 57C after serious gaming for an hour so.
Are these temps normal for the HDX, or higher than normal?
Any tips and info would be great and much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Pete

This video will show you how to get to the processor fan I'm not sure this is your model, but it looks the 20" to me.
