Buy a microfiber cloth (costs about $5) and clean the screen; no liquid necessary :).

I just use a damp soft tissue(make sure the surface is not abrasive) to gently wipe the screen and use a dry tissue to take care of the water marks. Works pretty well and havnt had an scratches. There are some solvents you can use, but I would rather not use chemicals on the LCD.

I use the microfiber cloth provided by HP to clean fingerprints whenever they build up and and once in a while again use the soft tissue.

I use a Memorex microfiber cloth for cleaning my notebook screen.

i got a problem with the microfiber cloth method though, on the glossy screen it semi removes the smudges but not completly. if you look at it closely after you used the microfiber cloth the smudges are still there not as noticable but they are still there.

My only problem with microfiber is that it always seems to leave lint on whatever you are wiping. I still prefer a 100% US cotton undershirt, dry unless you have dried soda spatter or something on there.

The anti-static wipes work great on my notebook pc. They were recommended to me on here. You can get them at Wal-mart, electronics department or at an office-supplies store like Staples. They work really well. You get a pack of about 80 for $3.00-$4.00. Greg

The eyeglass microfiber cloths are good, but like darth said windex isn't a great idea. It actually has a polish as part of the formula and forms a thin residue everytime you use it. You're better off with something that dries clean, like rubbing alcohol or other alcohol-based cleaners.

There are at least a few other threads on this issue. One of the main things I've seen is that you should avoid anything with ammonia.

Yea, add to that nothing abrasive, and nothing with chemicals that sound like hydrochloric/sulfuric acid, mineral spirits, carb cleaner, toluene/xylene, goof-off, etc... :D
