I cannot find it listed anywhere on the add/ remove list as it says I should when I delete the desktop icon?

    Thanks....

AOL isnt actually installed. The desktop shortcut just links back to the installation files usually located in C:/Program Files. Right click on the desktop icon and under one of the tabs you should see "Find Target" which should take you to the installation file.

Go into your C: drive and find the folder, then delete it.

This usually works for me- it's an all-purpose list so ignore step 1-3 if you don't see them, obviously.

1- Uninstall AOL from add/remove programs
2- Delete the 'free aol' link from the top of the start menu
3- Delete the 'free aol' link from IE's bookmarks
    4- find c:\aol or c:\program files\aol and trash it

The icon is just a web link.

It's also set up as your default IE7 homepage. That threw me as well. Just go to Tools, Internet Options in IE7 and set somthing else to be your homepage.

It does appear that AOL is installed when you first open IE.
