I have searched, and never found a solution.

    I have a Compaq F500 series laptop.

I set the power settings to "Do Nothing" when I close the lid. However, the network connection drops when i close the lid. Any way to prevent this?

I want to keep downloading files when I shut the lid. Also, the power setting is set so that it does not go into sleep mode when plugged in.

So what I would like to happen: plugged in, close lid, internet stays active.

    Thank you again.

It could be that the wireless antenna is in the lid, and when you close the lid there is not enough signal for it to keep the connection.

You should try updating your drivers. Especially your network card's. I was just updating my friends computer and one of the drivers fixes this issue.

I'm also having the same problem. All my drivers are up to date. My guess is that it's some sort of power setting, but I'm not for sure.

I did update the drivers. The only thing that did was fix the long delay of the network card after resuming from sleep. While that is a good thing, it did not address the issue at hand.
