I have a question. Before I got my laptop repaired from HP I would turn off the power management settings so when I closed my laptop it would do nothing (not go in to safe mode). But when I closed the computer the monitor still turned off but it wouldn't go in to safe mode. Well I broke my LCD about 3 weeks ago and just got my laptop back from HP. The settings are all the same but now when I close my laptop the screen stays on and it doesn't turn off anymore. Does anyone have any ideas how to make it so my monitor turns off when I close my laptop but DOESN'T go in to safe mode?

What kind of laptop do you have? You should have some sort of button that when you close the screen it turns off the LCD. On my laptop it is a little rubber knob in the upper right hand corner. See if you can find yours.
