    Dear Forum,

I've spent almost the last two weeks, whenever I had time in the afternoon, tweaking on this new laptop for my wife. And it was a hell of a ride...it came with Win 8, had to modify almost everything to install Win 7, but I finally managed to get it done. Installing an OS is not a big deal, it's what comes afterwards that is time consuming :
Windows updates, copying old files to the new one, getting the right drivers, tweaking windows to not run certain services on startup, anyway...you know the drill.

So, after I happily handed over the laptop to my wife telling her that this is ready for use now, first thing she did was checking the photo album and how it displayed on screen. She was not happy at all, and I felt guilty.
She wants vivid colors, as displayed in reality.

I have to admit that on the old laptop (almost 8 years old), the colors are more alive, more vivid, probably had a glossy screen and this one has a matte one, the pictures are dull, not really alive.
We maybe acted too quick in getting the laptop and didn't pay attention to this part, serves us right, next time we'll pay more attention.

However, the question now is, is there any way to have the colors displayed more vividly ? Is there any software available that can do this ?
I can only change stuff on the AMD graphics software, but it doesn't come even close to what we're looking for.

Too bad we didn't realize this earlier, as we would have returned it...

Now, is there anything that we can do ? It looks to me that this is more hardware related than anything... sniff...

    Cheers,
    Ken

From what I can see you got a matte 1366*768. Nearly all 1366*768 are TN-panels and really bad in terms of color, black level, contrast and viewing angels.
But, the p and n series have a glossy version of the 1366*768 that is actually rather good so if you could get your hands on one of those you are for sure getting a better image quality then you have today. Just reply to the thread and I will find out the exact name of the screen for you.

The screen is tested with good results here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-Pavilion-15-n005sg-Notebook.105200.0.html

Otherwise just upgrade to a 1080p screen, if you want glossy the LP156WF4 (SL)(C1) is highly recommended as it is one of the better glossy IPS screens that will fit a HP with LVDS 40pin. Just reply to the thread and I will point you to where it is in stock, A-grade.

Not sure if the default screen cable is capable of 1080p or if you will have to change that aswell if you go with the 1080p alternative.
