    Found the following on eCost:
AMD Athlon 2500+ processor, 512MB Memory, 40GB HDD, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive, 56K Modem, 10/100 ethernet, 802.11g Wireless, 15.0 XGA TFT Display, Windows® XP - Home, Pavilion ze4560us - hp refurbished

    Looks like $849 and $50 rebate = $799.

Comments on eCost? Service. Servenet warrantees?

I just want a decent laptop with wireless and DVD. Different suggestions?

Not beholden to any dealer, just want best value.

I have had the ze4630us in my hands for the past 2 weeks and have really liked it. It has all the same specs as what you listed and I bought it for $850. No issues, was looking at buying the zx5000 or the zt3000 bought was a little beyond my budget. This has been my first notebook and I think it is a pretty solid buy. Will be interested in your opinions if you decide to buy. Hope this helps. Also for your info. Battery life has been around 2 to 4 hours depending on what I am doing. If you dim the screen all the way down and turn off non essential programs your battery life will begin at around 3.5 hours.

Can not tell you anything about costco except from what I read on this website. They offer a 6 month no questions asked return policy. So you can safely try the system and if you don't like it take it back.

Let's not get eCost.com (online shopping store) and Costco (big retail bricks n' mortar store) confused. I have purchased from eCost.com and have always been happy with their service level.

You're right about Costco having the 6 month return policy, although they do "ask" you not to do that I believe, but it's still part of the policy so you can do it. Crazy. Don't know what notebook makers would want to deal with a bunch of returned notebooks after six months, but take advantage while you can [ ;)]
