I purchased a new 500gb hd from my 8710 w, get a blue screen on boot after cloaning my old hard drive to the new one. upgraded my bios to the newest from hp, but still will nto boot. My 300gb hd works fine.

    any help from anyone?

If you have a vista or windows 7 dvd, boot that and do a repair.

What cloning software did you use? Check that your BIOS hard disk setting is set to the same mode as it was when you had the old hard disk (moving from SATA Native to Legacy mode have been known to cause issues).

I'm not familiar with that software. Why don't you try using the free version of Acronis True Image, which you can get for free from Seagate ( http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/discwizard). This works wonderfully for me.
