Anyone has experience with the mode? I found it at a good price. The specs are
    T7300 @ 2.0 Ghz
NVS 320M with 256 dedicated up to 512 shared
    1GB RAM
    160GB HDD
    17" @ 1440x900 no glare finish
    Vista Business 32/64
    3 year warranty

If I get it I will buy 2 sodimms of 2GB for it.
Is it a good all around notebook including gaming?

The NVS320m is 8700mGT based, if you install Geforce drivers it will perform exactly like a 8700mGT. :)

Including tax and shipping 960 euro. I know that in the USA it's probably much cheaper, but this isn't USA.

Another 100 for 2x2GB of Kingston ram.

Yes, audio will go through the HDMI as far as I know. Just got to change the audio output device in the control panel when you connect it up to a TV or something... :)

What worries me is the graphics card that I believe is among the "doomed" by nvidia with the fault. I don't want it to die on me.
So right now I am between this and the Toshiba A300, the A300 will be 150-250 cheaper, but it will have the 3650 in it that has lower performance than the NVS320, but it won't die. Decisions, Decisions.

How long till is the warranty on the 8710p? Believe me the HP business warranty will replace the GPU if it breaks during warranty period. The 8710p is also far better build and covered by a much better warranty support.

HP warranty support so far has been the best, beside IBM.

"sydrofe" stick with the 8710p.It seems that the fawlty ones where mostly 8400/gs/gt cards. And hp released a statement about the nvidia cards and thw 8710p model WAS NOT on the list of the laptops with potential issues.
I am recieving mine today.Toshiba a300 is a good laptop, but in terms of built , it lacks behind, not to mentio the inferior 3650 and the lack of hdmi.

PS. "Καμμια σχεση το 8710 με το α300 ,απολυτως καμμια"

Here in Greece, the best support have thw toshiba and dell laptops.HP comes third with still good support.

If you go on to the HP website, search for the 8710p's drivers and software, and download the latest version of HP's wireless assistant. It should work hopefully. Also I would use ''intel proset wireless''.
