    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a restore or QuickRestore CD for the Compaq Armada 1540DM laptop. Mine is completely ruined and I don't have a restore CD. If anyone could help me that would be great.

    Thanks,
    ~~Mitchell

For the money, a better option would be to "source" a copy of the OS currently on the unit and do a fresh install.

Windows needs to be re-installed about once per year (YMMV)... and a "restore" cd puts back everything the way is was when the unit was shipped.

Download the drivers from HP -Driver packs are called SP's (service packs)
Make a copy of your C:\SwSetup folder (if you have one)
Make a copy of the i:386 folder

Use the SP's you downloaded from HP, instead of the one's in your C:\SwSetup folder as they should be "newer", use whatever is "newest".

Install the OS, install the SP's... Oh, another thing download ALL your Anti-Virus, Firewall apps and updates, BEFORE wiping the drive clean, installing the OS as you don't want to "connect" to the net with a fresh install without installing them first!!!!!

After you get everything "up", make a "image" of the harddrive /OS with Ghost, Arconis True image.. either to DVD/CD, a external hard drive (prefered), or on the machine itself. (create a "recovery partition on the machine itself..) (prefered)

Search around on THIS site for info on GHOST and about partitioning (creating a DATA partition):

    http://radified.com/Articles/laptop.htm

    http://radified.com/index2.html

This will allow you to "restore" the machine back to working condition within minutes.. with all YOUR apps installed, confiqured already.

    PS: Make a DATA partition.

Another option, if you have the 1386 folder is to do this to create your XP own install disc:
