I recently bought the customizable Compaq CQ50 laptop. It has the AMD Athlon X2 processor. I researched many sites and learned about the laptop buzz problem people are having however mine seems a bit different. First of all for those that don't know, it is a buzzing sound that comes from the laptop ONLY when operated on battery. It is very high pitched and annoying. The end speculation is that the sound is coming from the processor and something about the computer trying to save power when run on battery. Most users report constantly hearing the sound when running on battery however my problem is a bit different. Most people state the sound comes on when the CPU is idle for a couple of seconds. Well on my computer, when nothing is open and I'm just looking at the desktop, there is no sound. The problem ONLY comes on when I open up my internet browser (Firefox or IE). And theres more, the problem only comes on when i maximize the internet explorer. If I shrink it to maybe about half the size of the screen, the problem goes away. When i run other programs such as Power Point there is no buzz. On certain sites there is no sound, for example now as I am typing this message there is no buzz but once I go to another site it will come back. Anyone any ideas? Sorry for long post.
