When I got this laptop the dvd-rom was not being recognised and was not playing either cd or dvd so I ordered a similar used one off ebay, it plays cd's and it is being recognised in windows but no sound. Tried all 3 drivers from the hp site but it still shows that "no sound device is installed". Problem also with the DVD, getting an error code F4D41436. I don't think it's a problem with the used dvd-rom because I cannot get any sound from youtube or any other internet station.

Got it done, it was a driver issue.
