Anyone know how to enable the auto-dimming feature (to dim the screen when it is unplugged from AC) on a Compaq C304NR? Neither the BIOS nor the Power Management control panel have any settings that relate to auto-dimming (the Power Management control panel has settings to turn off the screen after some time, but that's not what I'm looking for. Every laptop I've seen or used has seemed to have had this feature. Do I need some third party program to do this?

AFAIK all HP's have the auto-dimming feature. If the screen isnt diming when on battery then try dimming the screen manually using the 'Fn' F7/F8 buttons when you are on battery power. The laptop should remember this setting the next time you use the battery.
