    Morning all,

I recently started having problems with my compaq about 2 weeks ago. The laptop would boot and everything would power on except the display. I quickly googled my problem and had many people tell me to take out my battery, unplug my adapter and hold the power button for 60 seconds and that should fix it. After a few tries this seemed to fix the problem. A few days ago after I booted the laptop my HP Help told me something about increasing my performance with a new adapter. I ignored the issue and continued using the laptop as normal. This morning it I am having the display problems again. I have tried the "power button trick" again roughly a dozen times. Also other fixes that google has returned have not worked. I have tried using a different battery and charger and that did not work. I cannot see a "faint" display on the laptop screen after powering on. I can hook the laptop to an external monitor and use it like a normal PC.

What am I missing? Has my screen gone bad? Can it be fixed? Is it worth fixing? Please help.

    Thanks all!

an update - I was thinking the problem was with the "close" switch. I hooked up my external monitor and changed all of my power settings to "Do Nothing" for when the screen is closed. Did not help one bit.
