There has been a lot of talk about poor battery life with some of the HP machines Vista equipped. Mine was so-so compared to the larger batteries in some of the other models and brands. For $450 bucks it wasn't a big deal and still isn't - I get a couple hours plus with wireless now. My biggest problem was the battery draining almost dead after a few days in the machine when it was off (NOT standby or hybernate). The battery, when removed from the machine fully charged would stay fully charged for days and days. If I removed it from the machine after I shut down, waited about 30 seconds then repalced it, it would stay charged for days and days. No joy searching forums so I called HP. I got a patient gentelman from India who hooked me up through HP's Instant Help, updated my BIOS, updated the battery drivers, and sent me on my way. Problem solved. Now when I shut down, I can leave the machine for a week and come back to a full battery (within a couple percent). I also get much better battery life. I have never had a glitch when calling HP for assistance (had to one other time for my printer), so kudos to the company for solving my problem. Hope they can fix yours, too. :D
