    Compaq EVO N610c booting problem?

    Trying to install a new HDD in this unit, old hdd worked but was a 30gb, I am trying to replace it with a 60gb, replaced it, did the unit's built in hdd sef-test, all is ok but when trying to boot from the cd to install XP it says "Boot MGR missing"? Help

    I think your computer might be set to boot from the hdd only. You'll have to change it to start from the cd drive instead. During startup the computer may have an option to press a function key to select the boot device. Alternatively, you could go into BIOS and change the boot device.

    Thanks, that works, please tell em, does this laptop come with a built in wireless card? If so, how do I access it? If not, what are my options, onlu either USB or pcmcia card?

    Sorry, I've never owned an Evo so I don't know. If it has one you should find it listed under Network Adapters in Windows' Device Manager.

    The silver part in your display can be removed and replaced with a wlan or bluetooth module. However the module is so old that it probably wouldn't work with modern networks and encryptions too well, so get the pcmcia card instead.
