I have a Compaq Evo N1020V That i believe has a bad LCD and faulty power connector. Can anyone recommend a place that does quality repair work and can give a good estimate for the repair.

    Thanks

If it's not under warranty, you're better off buyiong a new notebook, it'll probably come out to approx the same price. A new LCD will run you quite a bit and the same goes for a new systemboard.

I checked HP's site and found that the LCD's for the Evo N1020V (p/n: 470047-931) (I know this might not be your unit, but it's your series)

    309645-001 - $700.00
13.3-inch TFT display panel - 1024 x 768 resolution, up to 16.8 million colors, 150:1 contrast ratio, with internal side-mounted supports

    291641-001 - $890.00
14.1-inch TFT XGA display panel - 1024 x 768 resolution, up to 16.8 million colors, 150:1 contrast ratio - With internal side-mounted supports

    310689-001 - $900.00
15.1-inch TFT XGA display panel - 1024 x 768 resolution, up to 16.8 million colors, 150: 1 contrast ratio, with internal side-mounted supports

    285521-001 - $932.00
15.1-inch TFT XGA display panel - 1024 x 768 resolution, up to 16.8 million colors, 150:1 contrast ratio

This is what I found for a new systemboard:
    311282-001 - $498.00
Motherboard (system I/O board) - Intel 845MP chipset, 400MHz front side bus (FSB) - Does not include processor

You're bound to be charged similar prices for non-warranty parts. If you're unit is still in warranty (3 years from date of purchase), then you can take it to any HP authorized repair facility. If not, I'b buy a new notebook.
