I have a HP nc8430, and even though the fan is ALWAYS on (which is pretty strange in itself), it gets pretty **** hot.

The heat is all on the left side where the fan is, directly under the left speakers. The temp. in my house is only around 28 C, but the laptop gets scalding hot even when I'm only doing web surfing. When I play games, I'm scared the plastic will melt.

I thought the quality on HP's business notebooks were really good? Anyone know what I should do?

If more cooling is what I need, will the Zalman NC2000 work the best with this laptop? thanks in advance.

Hello Tim lol. Do you know how hot your laptop is getting? If not you should download RightMark CPU Clock Utility to get a temperature reading. I would also recommend you check out the cooling guide for some more tips.

    Hey Tim.

Yea, I'm using CPUID right now. I'm only browsing and nothing running on background.
Both cores are at 76 C,
    HDD at 41 C,
    5 temperature sensors at 75 C, 72 C, 71 C, 37 C, 80 C.
Once I start running more heavy programs, it gets hotter.

Yeah that's very hot for an idle temperature. Your hard drive temperature is normal though. Have you blown out your laptop's fans with compressed air? If you haven't done that in a while a lot of dust could have built up. If you have pets too hair can start too build up in the fans. Try doing that and see what happens. I would also recommend using a notebook cooler, although it won't drop your temperature by much.

I'll try the dust thing. A cooler won't make the temp. reasonable? Thanks.

A cooler at best will probably only drop the temperature by 5-6C. It depends where your fans are located. Also the temperature of the room you are using your laptop in can affect how hot it runs.
