    Please help!

My Compaq Presario 1508 just switches itself off when I run intensive applications like Macromedia Flash, do a full scan with Norton Antivirus, burn multiple CDs, play games (whether from CD or not), etc.

The programs will start fine, then the fan soon begins to speed up. After a while, it gets faster and faster, then all of a sudden, the whole notebook just switches off, without shutting down.

It also happens when I visit some websites that take a long time to load, or even when I'm watching some video clip and clicking/jumping along the time-line a lot (sometimes I just watch a video file without jumping here and there on the time-line and it happens too, but it happens only to certain files).

If I switch it back on again immediately, it will go off before Windows has a chance to finish loading, so I have to wait for a long time before switching it back on.

Other programs work fine, like Winamp, MSN Messenger, MS Word, etc.

AC adapter plugged in properly, battery taken out.

    System:
Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz processor (not mobile processor)
    512MB RAM
    ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
    Sound MAX integrated digital audio
    Teac CD-RW/DVD
    Windows XP Home Edition
