This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Compaq Presario 2100 and USB 2.0 411

    long story short...it appears there is no way to obtain he benefits of USB 2.0 on this laptop. i have spent numerous hours chatting with HP/Compaq, and looking online too. this is a last ditch effort to see if any "actual" owners of this machine have any clues.

    the only possibility i have heard of is a PCMCIA card with an NEC chipset. i have tried three different PCMCIA cards, but none of them ever wrote anything faster than 1.1, even though the card was 2.0. I don't know what chip was in the card, but if the NEC chip will specifically address this problem, I will look for one.
