    Compaq Presario 2100 and USB 2.0 411

    long story short...it appears there is no way to obtain he benefits of USB 2.0 on this laptop. i have spent numerous hours chatting with HP/Compaq, and looking online too. this is a last ditch effort to see if any "actual" owners of this machine have any clues.

    the only possibility i have heard of is a PCMCIA card with an NEC chipset. i have tried three different PCMCIA cards, but none of them ever wrote anything faster than 1.1, even though the card was 2.0. I don't know what chip was in the card, but if the NEC chip will specifically address this problem, I will look for one.
