    Compaq Presario 2200 wont start on battery

    I bought this notebook s/hand and it will never start on battery. I have to plug in the a/c and can unplug it as soon as I have pressed the on button. It will continue to power up as normal and run for several hours even though it gives a critical battery level warning almost immediately.

    I have tried removing the battery.

    The battery monitor nearly always show 0%. At times when it does show a charge it plummets to 0% in 1 or 2 seconds. But the notebook keeps running for at least several hours longer.

    Help ?????
