Hello, I own the Compaq presario laptop and in October it started giving me problems. I would get a blue screen with an error warning. This progressively got worse. It seems the only way I can get my computer to even power up is to lay it on it's side. Yesterday I resinstalled the restore disc. Now (still with it laying on its side) I am getting an error called Windows Boot manager. It says, " Windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix this problem, insert the windows installation disc and restart computer." Any ideas what I can do next? I did a computer check on the hard drive when it was up a few days ago, and it seems to be fine. I am running windows vista.
    Thanks,
    S

When you say power up by laying it on its side do you mean the OS will not load or the computer will not power on at all?
Which side are you laying it on or does it matter?
If you get it booted up can you then put it back down like you would normally?

I lay it on its left side. But this doesn't always work, just most of the time.
And no, if I move it back upright, it freezes.
