This laptop was just given to me because of this issue. The backlight works fine. There's no physical damage to the display. It boots and runs fine when hooked to an external monitor, but the on-board display is pure white! I've googled this and searched your forums with no sucess. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it?

Most of the time It's either LCD cable broken or partially/totally disconnected or panel failure.

Easiest to start with cable. Check that it's connected on motherboard then the other end: panel itself. While you have the backside open, grab a spare panel (don't everybody have them around? ;)) and see if it works. Well, if it works replace the panel. Otherwise replace the cable.

How cool would it be if all I had to do was plug the cable back in?! I'll try that and let you know. Thanks!
