I have a CQ50-109NR that won't boot. I have been told it is infected with a virus. I bought a DIY external kit to erase and reformat the hard drive. Do I need to install an Operating System on it, as well, before re-installing it and must it be the same OS that came pre-installed on it?

Well, I once had a virus, and ended up needing to RMA it. But I guess you need to re-install the OS.
