    Bought new battery for compaq presairo CQ50-139WM it said to update BIOS to except third party. I did and know pc freezes, it had f 24 version but hp does not go back that far. Can anyone help, my nephew has same laptop anyway to recieve info off his pc

    It might be in his SWsetup folder if he is using the original HP installation of the OS.

    So how do i go about fixing it ? I dont know that much about pc,s. Been messing around on one for about 2 years.

    What BIOS version are you using? You should be using a newer BIOS revision instead of going back to F.24, since there has been a lot of fixes and changes since then.

    The most recent BIOS version is F.63 - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48758.exe. Flash to this version if you have not done so.

    Once flashed and the system rebooted, see if your problem is fixed. If not, then remove the battery and try using the laptop without the battery inserted.
